While trying to find a medal count for the Olympics for my last post, I also followed some links on Wikipedia to their current affairs section, where I came upon an interesting item about flash flooding relating to the floods in Cornwall. The advice “Turn Around Don’t Drown” is something we should all take on-board.
What a beautiful weekend it has been here in London. It’s been unseasonably hot, which makes working in an office with no air-conditioning uncomfortable, but really, it’s the most fantastic weather. We may not be conditioned for it – nor used to it here in the UK – and it’s certainly very difficult to sleep while you sweat, but I wouldn’t change it: and I am one who burns in the slightest bit of sun. Yesterday I spent the most relaxing afternoon on the roof of a friend’s houseboat up near Little Venice. Then we wandered through Regent’s Park to see the Fruitstock Festival for nice people. Sitting on the grass listening to music is an ideal way to spend a Sunday afternoon and, of course, in a London park all the hot men wear as little as they can get away with. So, please stop moaning about the weather and go and enjoy the sunshine.

I’ll say (or was I just too drugged up – medicinally – to care?)
Last night, in my ill state (thanks, but no, I still feel really bad and, if I had any sense, would be at home right now rather than sitting in the office), I just about managed to watch Wild Weather on BBC One. I was absolutely fascinated by it. Donal MacIntyre always annoyed me on TV (I’m sure he’s really rather nice in real life) until yesterday. Wild Weather, however, was one of the most interesting, brilliantly shot programmes I have seen for a long time. Thank goodness I still pay a licence fee. Hoorah for the BBC.
If I were feeling better, I would talk at length, but I suggest you watch it next week or read this.
Today it poured with rain, and once again London seemed to flood. My office was without power all afternoon. Given that we Brits are, apparently, obsessed with the weather, let’s see what it’s doing when you’re reading this!
