This month's Man of the Moment has been a little more difficult to put together because there is not that much information around on Andrew Kinlochan. Andrew (whose nickname is, apparently, Ickle Chicken) is one of five members of the band Phixx who were runners up in one of the Popstars: The Rivals television series. The lads decided to stick together and form a band. At the end of 2003 they had their first hit single, Hold on Me, on Concept Music and it reached number 10 in the UK charts (accompanied by a very raunchy video).
Even before the single was released, Andrew came out as a gay man: possibly the first boyband member to voluntarily out himself before even releasing a single and without a hint of a scandal! He told the December 2003 issue of Gay Time magazine, "I know how important it is for young gay men to have pop stars that they can look up to and identify with".
The band, have, apparently been working with Lee from Blue and Duran Duran have done a remix of some of their music. On 23rd Febraury 2004 they are releasing their next single, Love Revolution. So, the new man of the moment is Andrew Kinlochan: a boyband gay icon for our times.
